The Shores Resort and Spa Monthly Wine Dinner January

Last week, before I headed out of town I was delighted to be a guest of the Shores with my sweet friend Kaylee and attend their monthly wine dinner. It is no secret that I am a huge fan of this resort and am excited to work with someone locally that is so fun.

Each month, the Azure restaurant creates a delicious menu and pairs them with yummy wine and invites the community to come join them on an adventure. I understand that the creation and pairing process is quite fun and exciting and I believe I will be attending the wine dinner brainstorm session in the very near future!

This month we went to South America. If this sounds familiar, I told you about my anticipation of this night here. What was super interesting, was the education of both the food and the wine! I learned a lot from Kim Braddock, our Quintessential wine rep from and Chef Robert Morgan.

We started off with a Tincho Spritzer, which is a day in and day out traditional wine cocktail in Argentina. Lots of Ice, some sprigs of mint for good measure and the delicious and light New Age Wine. New Age White is a light yellow-green colored wine, with fruity and floral aromas of great intensity. Balanced acidity leads to soft, semi-sweet and slightly effervescent flavors and mouth feel. It is an extremely refreshing, vivacious and sensual wine and will be heavily in stock in my white rotation.

Ormond Memorial Art Museum‎ Starry Starry Night

Each January, Ormond Beach celebrates the cultural opportunities offered year round to residents and visitors alike with an evening gallery stroll called Starry Starry Night.

The January event marks the anniversary of celebrating the offerings of The Casements Cultural Center, The Ormond Memorial Art Museum and the Ormond Historical Society. Free shuttle service will be available between The Casements and The Museum.  The 2017 event will feature the original artwork of three artists in the exhibition “Right Lines & Angles”.  Alaska fiber artists Maria Shell will join mixed media artist Patrick Schmidt and metal artist Greg Johnson.  (Johnson’s work is familiar to those who have visited the museum & gardens.  He created the original sculpture in the garden that pays tribute to Vietnam War veterans).

A Daughter's Memory

Today, I will post on Facebook and Instagram a reminder of a day that is always a dark day for me. I do it for me, and not for anyone else. Because as much as I despise empathy, I don't want this day to go by with out some sort of electronic remembrance of how I am feeling today.

Will this year be different, will I spend my day in happiness of memories? Will I revel in all the goodness that late has bring? Will I ever get my count right? Is it 17 years? 18 years? Why am I so bad in math? He was always so good at it.

This year on January 11th, I am met with a little more dread and questions. I am met with an earnest yearn for wanting to speak to him more than ever before, to ask him how he is, how he thinks I am doing? Does he support the decisions I make? Why didn't he tell me what was ahead for me? Can he see his granddaughter? Is he really looking down and seeing it all and do I have his approval?

There is a reason January is always cloudy. Allrighty, rainbows and butterflies tomorrow I promise.
